Pharmacology: Pharmacodynamics: Mechanism of Action: Sulbutiamine is an antiasthenic drug. It increases physical resistance to fatigue, improves neuromuscular efficiency, learning, memory and the metabolic function of the cerebral cortex.
Pharmacokinetics:
Absorption: Rapidly absorbed in the GI tract after oral admin.
Distribution: Crosses the blood brain barrier.
Excretion: Half-life: about 5 hr.
Oral: Asthenia: Adult: 400-600 mg daily.
Administration: Should be taken with food.
Hypersensitivity. Lactation.
Use in pregnancy: Caution when used during pregnancy.
Use in lactation: Contraindicated during lactation.
Mild agitation in the elderly; allergic skin reactions.
